Building on the successful seminars and MasterClasses presented over the past 5 years, Chronos, in association with the Universtiy of Surrey, presents this short course for people interested in learning more about the specialist topic of Synchronisation for Telecommunications Networks. The course is delivered regularly both in the UK and abroad.

It is recommended that the attendees have at least a basic understanding of SDH transport technology. Pre-reading prior to the course should be sufficient.

Ian Wright is former Technical Services Manager for Chronos Technology now working for Easynet in Network Development. Ian graduated in 1985 with a BSc Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the University of Surrey, he joined BICC Research and Engineering working on Voice, Video and Data Comms including an early Line of Site Ethernet Solution before leaving to Join GEC Hirst Research in 1997 working on FDDI, MAN and ATM. In 1990 in joined Fujitsu Telecom R and D Centre as part of the Core Network Group working on SDH, WDM, ATM and NGN. Active in SDH and Synchronisation Standardisation during his time at Fujitsu and chaired the ETSI TM3/1 Synchronisation Experts Group from 1997 - 2001. In 2002 he joined Chronos working primarily in the synchronisation arena including product development of SyncWatch, training including the Sync MasterClass and product related training, Sync consultancy and SyncAudit(tm).

Chris joined Chronos from Marconi’s UK Technical Assistance Centre in Liverpool in January 2006. Whilst at Marconi, Chris was responsible for the Field Trial, Rollout and Support of Enhanced Synchronisation Products and Services within Marconi’s System X Switching and SDH products. Chris is responsible for all professional services focused on the sync product area including internal and external training, Sync MasterClass, Sync Audit and network planning consultancy, customer demonstrations and the SyncWatch Development. Chris holds an Honours degree in Physics & Electronics from UMIST – University of Manchester, Institute of Science & Technology.
