Development and Fabrication of a Wirelessly Actuated Multisocket With Electronic/Acoustic Event Detection Capability

The proposed project seeks to develop and build a multisocket where each socket can be actuated remotely using wireless communications. It will allow applications that promote energy efficiency to actuate a socket when certain events occur.

 

Development and Fabrication of a Sensor Suite for Developing an Environmental Context of an Office Environment

The proposed project seeks to develop and build a suite of sensors (sound, temperature, light, motion and humidity) which can transmit its data wirelessly.  This sensor suite will provide a context of the environment in which they have been installed.

Development and Fabrication of a Wirelessly Actuated Multisocket

This project entailed the development and construction of a multisocket where each socket can be actuated remotely using wireless communications.  This device will allow for improved actuation capability for the current wireless sensor network testbed in the Centre for Communications Systems Research.

 

Development and Fabrication of a Wirelessly Actuated Light Switch

This project entailed the development and construction of a light switch which can be actuated using wireless communications.  What makes this switch unique is that it will be designed so that it can be attached to the top of an existing light switch so as to minimise installation costs and yet be actuated remotely as necessary.

 

Hardware Development and Fabrication of a Heating Efficiency Measurement System

This project entailed the development and construction of a heating efficiency measurement system.  The system monitors the status of the windows and a space heater in a room so as to determine if the heating is being wasted because the windows are open.

 

Hardware Development for an Acoustic Event Detection Circuit

This project entailed the development and construction of a microphone and pre-amplification circuit which was interfaced with a microcontroller.  This circuit will be used for acoustic event detection experiments.

 

Hardware Development of an RF Ranging Sensor Circuit

This project entailed the development and construction of a radio frequency ranging sensor.  This sensor will be used to provide improved presence detection capability for the Centre for Communication System Research’s wireless sensor network testbed.
